Committeeman Kevin Nedd

Committeeman Kevin Nedd is the first non-Republican to serve on the Washington Township Committee since 1978. His election in 2005 was a defining moment in Washington Township as voters chose his pragmatic vision of fiscal responsibility over the failed economic policies of the previous all-Republican committee, which brought about an 11% local tax increase. Over the past three years Committeeman Nedd delivered on his vision as tax increases have steadily declined (2% in 2008) despite a challenging economic environment.

Committeeman Nedd currently serves as the township’s Finance Liaison; a position held throughout his current three year term. He also serves as the First Aid Commissioner and as a member of the Library Board of Trustees. Committeeman Nedd’s prior appointments include Deputy Police Commissioner, Fire Commissioner, and the Planning Board.

Committeeman Nedd received a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Coast Guard Academy and a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business. In addition, he received a Masters of Science degree from Pace University’s School of Computer Science and Information Systems.

An armed forces veteran, Committeeman Nedd is a Senior Project Director with the Dun & Bradstreet Corporation, the world’s leading source of commercial information and insight on businesses.

Along with his professional and municipal responsibilities, Committeeman Nedd serves on the Board of Trustees for Gill St. Bernard’s School, an independent school located in Gladstone, NJ. He is a member of the New Jersey Library Trustee Association’s Executive Board and a Commissioner with the Morris County Human Relations Commission.

Committeeman Nedd resides in Long Valley with his wife Venus, daughter Ashley, who attends New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, and daughter Alexis, who attends Gill St. Bernard’s School Upper School.
